Normalize changing our opinions about people. In fact, I'll share a few people about whom I changed my opinion:

Chris Angel: Yes, I used to like his show quite a bit. Today I cringe thinking about it

Erwin Schrodinger: I used to admire him because of his contributions to science and because he was polyamorous in mid 1900s, but apparently he was also a rapist

Werner Heisenberg: He contributed a lot to science, but he was a nazi

Nobuhiro Watsuki: He wrote Roruni Kenshin, one of my favorite anime growing up, but he turned out to be a pedophile

R Kelly: "I believe I can fly" slaps, but his crimes are so vast and messed up I cannot summarize them, nor do I want to try

With the exception of Chris Angel, I still like the work of all of these people, and in the case of Schrodinger and Heisenberg, you have to learn about it if you want to understand Quantum Mechanics. But that doesn't mean they should be erased from history, or that we should be ashamed to have admired at one point. Rather we just have to acknowledge their full legacies, the good and the bad

Now it has been confirmed that InternetHistorian is far right (he is a massive fan of libsoftiktok and Tucker Carlson amongst others) seeing him celebrated in your video about My Immortal has not aged well.

I referenced Internet Historian a few times because his My Immortal series was very popular and I was aware that it was probably a lot of people's introduction to the story. That being said -- and this is me taking the opportunity to acknowledge quite a few people who have been bringing him up to me since the hbomberguy video came out -- I haven't even seen that many of his other videos. I am not heartbroken to find out he was a shitty person. I am not a fan of his. I am not about to start defending the obviously fucked up shit he has done because I was a casual viewer who liked a handful of his videos.

I'm considering going back and adding notes to the top of the My Immortal video descriptions like "Hey don't actually check out Internet Historian he turned out to be a right wing freak" but I'm also not going to beat myself up over having made a reference that aged badly. Sometimes we learn new information and change our opinions it is the most normal thing in the world????

So I just found this out while searching for works Kizu Takumi's (Lucky) in, got curious. Apparently he's Sanosuke Sagara from Rorouni Kenshin.

He stars it alongside Sou Okuno, (Sougo) as

and Kazuki Katou (Daisuke Kazama - kamen Rider Drake)

...Are you sure about that? I searched all three actors' filmographies, and it says nothing about them being in Ruroni Kenshin.

Apparently, Sanosuke is played by Mutenaka Aoki, while Seijuro Hiko is played by Masaharu Fukuyama. It doesn't look like Kamatari Honjou has been adapted.

If they had been cast in Kenshin it'd have been huge news, considering the main man himself is a Kamen Rider too. And the most popular one to boot...

<> Sometimes I see an anime around everywhere and it's on my list but I just haven't gotten in the mood to watch it.. but seeing the fanart around so much makes me feel like I "really should sometime"

<> Bungou Stray Dogs is crazy popular with the people I follow and I love seeing the fanart on my dash, but I've never seen it!! It's been on my list for like 3 years! I know I'll like it once I get started but for some reason it feels so daunting....

37. Priority Anime (Unfinished)

<> I keep making and removing priority lists on anilist but let me firmly say there are anime on my paused and watching I care about more than others

<> Karneval's one I've been watching forever. I get too energetic when watching it so I have to space it out or it feels like I'm gonna have a heart attack... I'm 2 episodes from the end!!

<> Astro Note and New Getter Robo are ones I started for challenges, then decided not to use for those challenges, but really want to finish regardless

<> Bucchigiri!? I actually dropped and then recovered because.. well.. the show isn't interesting to me but Jin Marito is hard to pass up...

<> Hells for the Horror Challenge, Ninja Resurrection for the 90s Classic Challenge (which is technically on my Currently Watching list, but I haven't started it), and Castle in the Sky because it's a ghibli I haven't seen yet.

<> Attack on Titan is an anime I see around a lot but after hearing about the creator I haven't felt inclined to watch it myself. I do like seeing it around though, which is different from how I used to be. I have a little Armin keychain I got in a blind bag ages ago so I've slowly warmed up to it.

<> Rorouni Kenshin is another fine anime falling victim to me not liking the creator.

<> Erased, Sword Art Online, Black Clover, and Your Lie in April aren't currently on my planning but I think that might change some day! They're all fine, I just have no interest in them right now.

<> Technically I've seen some of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation on the anime-all-day tv channel but I don't think I'd watch it myself.

40. Anime I keep trying and failing to watch

<> Kiki's Delivery Service oh my god. I've never made it more than 8 minutes in. I have it on disc. I have no idea why I can't watch it. It looks good, I've heard it's good, I just lack the attention for it or something.. it's so sad it's like cursed or something lmao

<> Noragami is one I watched the first episode of and didn't get hooked on, like many others, but I know it's gonna get good if I keep watching it. The problem is, no matter how often I try, I can't get myself to watch the next episode.

Old fandoms are great because you're more likely to find older fans. You're more likely to find stories of second marriages, or older protagonists, or protagonists who are adapting to a new disability. As I've gotten older, I've seen bits of my lived experience in all of these older fandoms, and gotten to enjoy stories around the campfire from all sorts of interesting people I will probably never meet in real life.

I hate how fandom has become "if you haven't created anything in this very specific time frame after the release of the show/movie, everyone will have moved on"

And call me old fashioned, but that's just not me. I sometimes take ages to create and publish. And I will love a show or movie for such a long time (years, babes, years) that I just can't relate to the fast consumerism that's going on.

Because, let's be real, it can get really lonely in a fandom if most have simply moved on to the next shiny thing. Is what's created less worth, just because it was created outside the hype? Why is it such a taboo for this new fandom generation to love an old or "late" fic or art?

It's so tiring and I'm too old for the 30-seconds-hype-tiktok-shit. Just tired. So, so tired.
